resto

For the restaurant that I picked, I chose to review Tia Maria’s Cantina along Katipunan Avenue, situated beside Shakey’s and Starbucks. I was intrigued by the stories my friends had told me about how great the place was so I decided to go see for myself.

From the outside the restaurant looks spacious due to the veranda dining type of set-up. The inside dining area is much more like that of a typical fine dining restaurant. The lights are dim and the air-con is quite comfortable.

The waiters and waitresses are very accommodating and pleasant. They give you the feel of being at your normal school canteen where you get to be friends with the operators. But this is where that all ends and the confusion starts. The name says cantina but when you see the prices, you’ll realize that this is not your ordinary canteen. The prices are a bit expensive for a normal student’s allowance. Not unless you’re Paris Hilton and you stand to inherit a fortune, I don’t think one can afford to eat there at a regular basis.

As for the food, they have a wide array of Mexican type of cuisine. They capture the typical taste of Mexican food. Surprisingly, their food leaves nothing to write home about. I found it very typical and just like any other Nacho King stall found in supermarkets. There is nothing really special when it comes to the taste.

With all of this said, it makes me wonder why so many students come to this restaurant. As a restaurant reviewer, I would have to give Tia Maria’s Cantina 3 stars out of 5.

I've tried that place once. It's okay if you're a fan of mexican food. And yeah, the prices are kinda steep. I still prefer Mexicali, but you have to go all the way to Eastwood.
